25 Semi-Permanent Buildings in Cililitan Demolished

Due to standing on water channel, as many as 25 semi-permanent buildings along Jalan SMAN 14 RT 01/04, Cililitan , Kramatjati, East Jakarta, were demolished by officers, Wednesday (11/25).

Cililitan Urban Village Head, Sabdo Kurnianto stated that before being demolished, the building owners have been given warning letter by the sub-district side. But the buildings were still not being demolished. Moreover, they were complained and reported by residents through Qlue application. 

Illegal Buildings on Baru Riverbank Rampant

"We demolished all of the buildings due to standing on water channel. Then the channel will be normalized and refunctioned. The demolishment involved 30 joint officers," he explained. 

Eventually,  after the channel is normalized, street vendors are allowed to trade at the location yet not permanently. 

Martin (55), one of street vendors, acknowledged he was resigned seeing his building demolished. He claimed had been trading for almost 20 years using permanent building sized 3x2 square-meters. 

"I hope i could still trade. As it's the only business i have for living," he expressed.
